Product Details

Our organic black pepper essential oil is a middle note steam distilled from the fruit of Piper nigrum. One of the most ubiquitous spices across the globe, it originated in India and is grown in tropical climates in many parts of the world. This cherished spice has been a major piece of international trade for over 4000 years.

Pepper berries grow in graceful clusters from a woody vine covered in lush green leaves. The plants can reach up to 33 feet in height and are typically grown on trellises. Black pepper oil is a pungent ingredient that can be used in cosmetics such as massage oils, salves, and perfumes.

Aroma
Dry, warm, and spicy aroma characteristic of freshly ground black peppercorns.

Constituents
This oil contains limonene, β-caryophyllene, α-pinene, β-pinene, and δ-3-carene.

Limonene is mainly found in citrus oils like grapefruit, tangerine, and lemon but also in palo santo, camphor, and dill seed. β-caryophyllene is within the oils of copaiba, catnip, ylang ylang, and hemp. α-Pinene and β-pinene are both found within galbanum, St. John’s wort, scotch pine, and nutmeg oils. δ-3-carene is found in scotch pine, cypress, angelica root, and ravensara.

Blending and Uses
This oil adds warm notes with subtle spicy hints and is often used in sensual blends for inspiring an elevated mood and intimacy. A little goes a long was with this spicy essential oil, and it will easily overpower other aromas, so we recommend adding drop by drop until the desired aroma is reached.

For a luxurious perfume combine ylang ylang, jasmine, rose, bergamot, and black pepper oils. If you prefer a perfume or cologne with a woodsy touch combine sandalwood, cypress, orange, vetiver, clove, and black pepper.

Add to homemade massage oils with rosemary, ginger, and lavender for occasional muscle or join aches. It also blends well in chest rub salves to support healthy bronchial passages with other oils such as eucalyptus or tea tree. Black pepper essential oil is stimulating and energizing for the mood and is excellent in diffuser blends with citrus oils like lemon, sweet orange, or tangerine and with other spice oils like ginger or clove.

Packaging
1/2 oz. and 1 oz. essential oils are packaged in amber glass bottles with drop reducers for easy application. Larger sizes are packaged in amber screw cap bottles and do not come with reducers or droppers.
